Stay Salty

Salt is born of the purest parents, the sun and the sea. And where there is purity, there is bliss.

From our bowls to our baths, salt may seem like an embellishment, but it is very much a necessity for our beings in so many ways due to their rich abundance in beneficial nutrients such as magnesium and sulfate.

Why do we love incorporating salt into our rituals at the Adirondack Foot Sanctuary?

When used in soak, salts can:

help your skin retain moisture

improve circulation

accelerate wound healing

encourage better sleep

relieve joint pain and muscle aches

decrease stress

For these reasons, and more, salt is a staple at our Sanctuary. And with the ideas below, we hope it becomes a staple in your home self-care rituals as well.

1) Foot Soak

Lower your feet into a soothing soak for a moment of relaxation. Ratio: 1/8 cup of salt to 1 gallon of water.

2) Body Scrub

Combine 1 cup salt, 1/4 avocado or olive oil and 10 drops essential oil of choice, then scrub on damp skin in circular motion to remove dead skin and leave a smooth and refined shine.

3) Gargle

Mix 1/2 a teaspoon of salt into 1 cup of warm water. Gargle to soothe a sore throat, help fight bacteria and loosen mucus.
